(St. George, UT) — The number of animals and fish illegally killed in Utah is down from 2023. The Division of Wildlife Resources says one-thousand-seven such killings took place across the Beehive State last year. which is nearly 50 fewer from the year before. That includes nearly 400 fish, followed by 216 deer and 140 elk. DWR noted the list also includes moose, bison, bears, cougars, and bald eagles. Officials explained these were the cases that were investigated and dozens of people lost their hunting or fishing licenses as a result.
