(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox says he supports the development of an ICE detention facility in Salt Lake City. The Republican insists it’s not a partisan issue and he worked with President Joe Biden on similar proposals. The mayors of both Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County are opposed to the plan. Even though he did not receive advanced notice of the detention facility, Cox says he’s ready to work with the White House to get it done. ICE recently paid over 145-million dollars for the 833-thousand square foot warehouse that sits on about 25 acres.
