(Salt Lake City, UT) — Thousands of flights are being canceled across America starting today. The FAA is making the cuts at 40 big airports, including Salt Lake City International. Four percent of flights will be cut today, and that percentage will increase every day until it hits 10 percent in one week. It comes as air traffic controllers continue to call in sick while not getting paid. The Secretary of Transportation says he’s putting safety first as the longest federal government shutdown in history continues into its sixth week.
