(Salt Lake City, UT) — Backers of an initiative aimed to raise taxes for education are planning to launch a campaign next week to get their proposal on the November 2018 ballot. Supporters of the Our Schools Now say they want to raise the income tax by seven-eighths of a percent, and the sales tax a half percent. The objective is to raise 700-million dollars for education.
