(Salt Lake City, UT) — The Utah state legislature is considering a bill that would ban so-called prop bets. They’re called proposition bets, and they let people wager on certain outcomes, like how many three-pointers a basketball player will make or who will win the presidential election. Republican State Representative Joseph Elison has authored HB 243 to ban the increasingly popular bets. His legislation would define prop bets as gambling which is already illegal in Utah.
