1 Dead, Another In Critical Condition After Boat Capsizes on Yuba Lake

LEVAN, Utah (AP)-Per a report on KSL.com, one fisherman is dead and another in critical condition after being found clinging to a buoy when their boat capsized at Yuba Lake State Park Sunday evening.

Utah State Parks Lieutenant Regan Wilson reported the two men, each of whom were in their 60’s, were fishing on the lake and due to return home by 10:00 pm MDT Sunday evening.

Around 9:30 am MDT Monday morning, police received word the two men had not returned from their trip, stated Juab County Sheriff Doug Anderson.

Anderson said the two men are Minersville residents.

Anderson confirmed a sheriff’s deputy discovered the overdue boaters’ vehicle and the boat trailer at the launch ramp at Yuba State Park.

Wilson confirmed the capsized boat was located roughly eight feet from shore Monday morning with its tip sticking up.

Wilson stated one of the fishermen was discovered holding on to a buoy near the east side shore of Yuba Dam and was suffering from hypothermia and a diabetic condition.

He was then airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital, Anderson confirmed.
