Salt Lake City Lawmaker To Propose Restrictions On Fireworks

(Salt Lake City, UT)  –  A Salt Lake City lawmaker plans to propose restrictions on the use of personal fireworks in Utah.  House Minority Whip Joel Briscoe says he will sponsor a bill in the next session of the Legislature to either ban fireworks statewide or restrict the number of days they are legal.  Briscoe says his decision comes after he received calls from constituents complaining about building and brush fires started by fireworks.  Governor Herbert’s office reiterated this week that he is opposed to a statewide ban on fireworks, saying it is up to local governments to decide if they should be allowed.Â
