Only two cities in Sanpete County are holding primary elections this year: Mt. Pleasant for mayor, and Spring City for city council members. Ballots were mailed on July 18 and should have been delivered by now.
Voters have until August 15 to return their mail-in ballots. If voters are returning their ballot by regular mail, they must be postmarked no later than Monday, August 14. Ballots can also be dropped off at the Sanpete County Courthouse until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15.
There are three candidates running for Mayor of Mt. Pleasant: Tod Horn, Dan Simons, and interim mayor Sandra Bigler. Five candidates are vying for two seats on the Spring City Council: Chris Anderson, Michael Black, Thomas Brunner, Joseph Fuschel, and Kimberly Lloyd-Stewart.
If residents who live within the city limits of either city have not received their ballot, they should call the Sanpete County Clerk at 835-2131.
