Boys Basketball

1-A Semifinals @ SVC

RICHFIELD, Utah-Treyson Roberts posted 18 points and 16 rebounds on 8-14 from the field and the Bryce Valley Mustangs outlasted the Manila Mustangs 52-49 in overtime in the 1-A state semifinals Friday at the Sevier Valley Center. Jordan Lucio had 14 points and 6 rebounds on 5-9 from the field in the loss for Manila.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Klyn Fullmer netted 9 points and 9 rebounds and Riley Certonio added 9 points as the Panguitch Bobcats outlasted a late Valley surge to prevail 34-33 over the Buffaloes in the 1-A state semifinals at the Sevier Valley Center Friday. The Bobcats next face Bryce Valley Saturday at 6:30 pm for the 1-A state title. This is the fourth consecutive year Panguitch will have played for a 1-A state boys basketball crown. Braden Heaton had 11 points, 7 rebounds and four blocked shots in defeat for the Buffaloes but missed an and-one free throw that would have forced overtime in the closing seconds. Valley plays Manila for 3rd place Saturday at 2:30 pm

1-A 1-Loss Bracket @ SVC

RICHFIELD, Utah-Caleb Koski posted 27 points on 12-22 from the field as the Intermoutain Christian Lions overpowered Piute 75-64 Friday in the 1-A 1-loss bracket at the Sevier Valley Center. AJ Owen had 20 points on 8-12 from the field for the Lions in a complementary role. Quade Gleave had 16 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Thunderbirds.

1-A Consolation Bracket @ Richfield H.S.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Kyden Peters led the way with 13 points as the Milford Tigers waxed Rich 45-39 in the 1-A consolation bracket at Richfield High School Friday. John Scott and Konner Greer had 8 points apiece in the loss for the Rebels. Milford faces Green River for 6th place Saturday at 11:30 am at Richfield High School.

Girls Basketball

1-A Semifinals

RICHFIELD, Utah-Preslee Barnson’s 15 points led the way as the Milford Tigers ended Panguitch’s hopes of a three-peat with a 50-40 win Friday in the 1-A state semifinals at the Sevier Valley Center. Mataya Barney had 21 points and 10 rebounds on 8-12 shooting in the loss for the Bobcats, who will play Water Canyon for third place Saturday at 1:00 pm at the Sevier Valley Center. Milford next plays No. 1 seed Rich for the state championship Saturday at 4:30 pm. A win there would be historic for head coach Mallory Bailey as the Tigers have never won a state championship in girls basketball.

1-A 1-Loss Bracket @ SVC

RICHFIELD, Utah-Whitnee Spencer posted 11 points and the Valley Buffaloes outlasted Bryce Valley 41-35 Friday in the 1-loss bracket at the Sevier Valley Center. Maycee Brinkerhoff netted 11 points and 6 rebounds on 5-7 in the loss for the Mustangs, who end the season at 13-13 and 9-6 in Region 20 play. The Buffaloes, who improved to 17-8 and 11-4 in Region 20 play, will play for 5th-7th place Saturday at 10:00 am at the Sevier Valley Center.

1-A Consolation Bracket @ Richfield H.S.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Kassidy Westwood netted 16 points as the Piute Thunderbirds pounded the Wendover Wildcats 64-29 Friday in the 1-A consolation bracket at Richfield High School. Leslie Luna’s 10 points led Wendover in defeat. Piute next faces Tabiona Saturday at 10:00 am at Richfield High School for 6th place.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Paiton Lazenby’s 17 points led the way and the Tabiona Tigers got past Wayne 39-35 in the 1-A consolation bracket at Richfield High School Friday. Allee VanDyke had 14 points to pace the Badgers in defeat.
