SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say a teenager who ran away from a youth-treatment program in Utah has been found safe.
Officials with Redcliff Ascent said Saturday that 13-year-old Roberto Madrigal was found on the side of a road in Beaver County, hungry but otherwise healthy.
The California native ran away from a remote southern Utah location on Thursday. He’d been in the program for about a month when he disappeared.
Authorities say he had water, so was able to avoid dehydration in the arid climate.
There are several wilderness-rehabilitation programs in Utah where parents from around the U.S. send teenagers to get treatment for behavioral problems or other issues in a backcountry setting.
