Boys Basketball

3A 2nd Round Playoffs

NEPHI, Utah-Austin Park posted 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the No. 7 Juab Wasps overpowered No. 10 South Summit 68-58 in overtime Friday in the 2nd round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs. Logan Woolstenhulme had 22 points and 12 rebounds on 13-14 at the foul line in defeat for the Wildcats. Juab next plays in the 3A state semifinals Thursday at 11:10 pm at the America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University against No. 2 Richfield.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Miles Barnett netted 21 points and the No. 2 Richfield Wildcats overpowered No. 15 Union 62-45 in the 2nd round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs Friday. Wayke Olsen’s 11 points led the Cougars in defeat.

CEDAR CITY, Utah-The No. 8 Canyon View Falcons blitzed No. 9 American Leadership 71-51 Friday in the 2nd round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs. The Falcons next face No. 1 Manti Thursday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at Southern Utah University.

MANTI, Utah-Reggie Frischknecht’s 14 points led the No. 1 Manti Templars to a 66-47 victory over No. 16 Providence Hall in the 2nd round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs Friday. Boston Stein’s 12 points led the Patriots in defeat.

GRANTSVILLE, Utah-The No. 4 Grantsville Cowboys waxed No. 13 Ogden 59-40 Friday in the 2nd round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs. Grantsville next draws No. 5 Morgan Thursday at 2:30 pm at Southern Utah University in the state quarterfinals.

MORGAN, Utah-Aiden Harris recorded 24 points and the No. 5 Morgan Trojans hammered No. 12 Carbon 70-54 in the 2nd round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs Friday. Chet Anderson’s 15 points led the Dinos in the loss.

CASTLE DALE, Utah-Talon Tuttle led the way with 17 points and the No. 3 Emery Spartans dismantled No. 14 North Sanpete 72-59 Friday in the second round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs. Tyler Allan led the Hawks in defeat with 15 points. Emery next faces No. 6 Summit Academy Thursday at 9:30 am on the campus of Southern Utah University in the state quarterfinals.

BLUFFDALE, Utah-Bryson Ottley posted 15 points and the No. 6 Summit Academy Bears stymied No. 11 Judge Memorial 51-38 in the second round of the 3A boys basketball playoffs Friday. Aaydan Saucedo led the Bulldogs with 14 points in the loss.

2A 2nd Round Playoffs

PAROWAN, Utah-Brock Felder stepped up with 18 points and the No. 8 Parowan Rams bested No. 9 San Juan 50-36 Friday in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs. Anthony Done led the Broncos in the loss with 17 points. Parowan next faces No. 1 Enterprise Thursday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College.

ENTERPRISE, Utah-Treyson Randall netted 15 points and the No. 1 Enterprise Wolves clobbered No. 16 Waterford 78-38 in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Carson Reynolds led the Ravens in defeat with 15 points.

AMERICAN FORK, Utah-Niwhai Winitana recorded 20 points and the No. 5 American Heritage Patriots pounded No. 12 Rockwell 95-60 Friday in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs. Kolton Henderson’s game-high 31 points led the Marshals in the loss. American Heritage next faces No. 4 South Sevier Thursday in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College at 2:30 pm.

MONROE, Utah-Emilio Miramontes posted 23 points and the No. 4 South Sevier Rams overpowered No. 13 North Summit 79-55 in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Buck Sargent netted 15 points and 7 rebounds for the Braves in the loss.

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah-Kome Ocwor’s 23 points led the way and the No. 6 APA West Valley Eagles got past No. 11 North Sevier 75-69 Friday in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs. Randy Elmer’s game-high 31 points paced the Wolves in defeat. APA West Valley next draws No. 3 Kanab Thursday at 9:30 am in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College.

KANAB, Utah-Kason Janes netted 18 points and the No. 3 Kanab Cowboys routed No. 14 Gunnison Valley 80-54 in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Jon Willden led the Bulldogs with 21 points in the loss.

DUCHESNE, Utah-Parker Crum amassed 32 points and the No. 7 Duchesne Eagles surged past No. 10 Rowland Hall 76-55 Friday in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs. Kai Dowdle led the Winged Lions in the loss with 31 points. Duchesne next faces No. 2 Millard Thursday in the state quarterfinals at Salt Lake Community College at 11:10 am.

FILLMORE, Utah-Hunter Rhodes posted 24 points and the No. 2 Millard Eagles stonewalled No. 18 Beaver 57-39 in the 2nd round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Taiven Gillins led the Beavers in the loss with 12 points.

Region 20 Tournament

Semifinals @ Panguitch High School

PANGUITCH, Utah-Brooks Dalton stepped up with 20 points and the No. 2 Piute Thunderbirds overpowered No. 6 Bryce Valley 62-46 Friday in the Region 20 semifinals at Panguitch High School. Joel Romo led the Mustangs in the loss with 15 points. Piute next faces No. 1 Panguitch in the Region 20 tournament championship game Saturday at 7:30 pm.

PANGUITCH, Utah-Justin Osburn posted 14 points and the No. 1 Panguitch Bobcats pummeled No. 4 Milford 61-26 in the Region 20 tournament semifinals Friday at Panguitch High School. Sadler Barnes’ 8 points and 8 rebounds led the Tigers in defeat.

Consolation Bracket

PANGUITCH, Utah-Macoy Haris netted 33 points and the No. 3 Valley Buffaloes dismantled No. 7 Water Canyon 58-41 Friday at Panguitch High School in the Region 20 consolation bracket. Aaron Barlow led the Wildcats in defeat with 18 points.

PANGUITCH, Utah-Jake Peterson netted 17 points on 7-13 from the field and the No. 5 Wayne Badgers doubled up No. 8 Escalante 66-33 in the Region 20 consolation bracket Friday at Panguitch High School.

Girls Basketball

Region 20 Tournament @ Panguitch High School

PANGUITCH, Utah-The No. 3 Wayne Badgers downed No. 2 Valley 45-31 Friday in the Region 20 girls tournament semifinals at Panguitch High School. The Badgers next face No. 1 Piute in the Region 20 tournament championship game Saturday at 6:00 pm.

PANGUITCH, Utah-Tera Morgan led the way with 21 points and the No. 1 Piute Thunderbirds humbled No. 4 Panguitch 42-37 at Panguitch High School in the Region 20 girls tournament semifinals. Mallory Henrie’s 15 points led the Bobcats in the loss.

Consolation Bracket

PANGUITCH, Utah-Holly Matthews netted 14 points and the No. 5 Bryce Valley Mustangs downed No. 8 Water Canyon 45-23 in the Region 20 tournament consolation bracket Friday at Panguitch High School. Martha Jessop had 18 points for the Wildcats in the loss. The Mustangs next face No. 7 Milford Saturday at 12:00 pm in the 5th place game at Panguitch High School.

PANGUITCH, Utah-The No. 7 Milford Tigers downed No. 6 Escalante 56-39 Friday at Panguitch High School in the Region 20 tournament consolation bracket Friday.
