Whittni Orton, Anna Camp-Bennett, Help BYU Set Distance Medley Relay School Record

SEATTLE-Saturday, as BYU’s indoor track and field squad competed at the UW Invite hosted by the University of Washington, a pair of Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network school alums helped the women’s squad set a new school record.

Juniors Whittni Orton (Panguitch High School) and Anna Camp-Bennett (Millard High School) each ran a leg for the Cougars’ women’s distance medley relay. Camp-Bennett ran the first leg and Orton ran the anchor leg, which is traditionally saved for a team’s best runner.

The Cougars ran a 10:53.93 in the event, posting a time that head coach Ed Eyestone confirmed he was “really proud” of.

Competing in section 3, Camp-Bennett, Orton and their teammates Alena and Lauren Ellsworth, won against the field which featured host Washington, Utah and a squad representing apparel company Oiselle.

Camp-Bennett, Orton and their teammates are next in action Friday and Saturday at the Nike Boise Indoor Classic at Nampa, Idaho hosted by Boise State University.
