OGDEN, Utah-Wednesday, Weber State University announced its 2021 Hall of Fame class.
This year’s inductees are Rebecca Bennion (women’s track and field/cross country), Nick Chournos (football), Damian Lillard (men’s basketball), Ron McBride (head football coach) and Jody Lake (administrator).
The Wildcat Club Hall of Fame Banquet is September 17 at the Eccles Conference Center of Ogden.
The class will also be recognized September 18 at Stewart Stadium when the Weber State football team hosts James Madison.
A native of Tremonton, Utah, Chournos earned All-American honors in 2003 as a junior and has 3,593 career rushing yards. This ranks him second in Wildcats history. He also had 30 rushing touchdowns, ranking him fifth in school annals.
Lillard made history as the only men’s basketball player in Big Sky Conference history to earn All-American honors, doing so in the 2011-12 season.
Lillard had 1,934 career points for the Wildcats, ranking him fourth in the Wildcats’ record book.
He is Weber State’s all-time leader in made free throws (520).
After being drafted sixth overall in the 2012 NBA Draft by the Portland Trail Blazers, Lillard earned NBA Rookie of the Year honors in 2013 and has since earned six All-NBA team honors and has been named to six NBA All-Star teams.
This summer, he earned gold medal honors by helping the USA defeat France to earn the gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics of Tokyo.
McBride coached the Wildcats’ football program from 2011-2015, posting 43 wins and helping the Wildcats to a Big Sky Conference title in 2008.
In so doing, McBride led the Wildcats to their first national ranking in eight years.
