Utah State Football Selected 9th In Mountain West Preseason Poll

LAS VEGAS-Wednesday, during the Mountain West Conference football media days at the Circa Resort of Las Vegas, Utah State was selected 9th in the preseason poll. The results are as follows:

  7. Hawai’i (213)
  8. San Diego State (202)

Aggies standout senior defensive back Ike Larsen (interception, nine passes defensed) was named to the all-conference first team defense.

Former American Fork High School star quarterback Maddux Madsen, a senior at Boise State, was named the conference’s preseason offensive player of the year. Last season, Madsen completed 62.4 percent of his passes for 3,018 yards, 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in leading the Broncos to The College Football Playoff where they lost 31-14 to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl.

The conference’s preseason defensive player of the year is San Diego State junior defensive lineman Trey White (12.5 sacks last season, a forced fumble and 19 tackles for a loss for the Aztecs). White’s San Diego State teammate, senior placekicker, Gabriel Plascencia, made just under 93 percent of his field goal attempts for the Aztecs (13-14) and 18-19 of his PAT attempts last season.

Utah State starts the 2025 season August 30 by hosting UTEP.
