Utah Football Announces Team Captains For 2021 Season

SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, Utah football announced its team captains for the 2021 season.

Covey is a junior receiver out of Provo’s Timpview High School. Covey has posted 132 receptions for 1497 yards and 8 touchdowns for the Utes in his career.

Rising is a sophomore quarterback out of Ventura, Calif. He looks to be backing up senior signal-caller Charlie Brewer, a transfer from Baylor, per the team’s latest depth chart. Rising, a Texas transfer, has completed 3 of 6 passes for 50 yards and an interception for the Utes.

Markgraf is a senior transfer out of Hamilton, Ontario. In this past spring’s CFL Draft, Markgraf was selected No. 42 overall (5th round) by the Ottawa REDBLACKS.

Lloyd is a junior linebacker out of Chula Vista, Calif. In his career for the Utes, he has posted 8.5 sacks, 21 tackles for a loss, 145 total tackles, an interception and a forced fumble.

Tafua is a junior defensive end out of Laie, Hawaii. He has posted 8 career sacks, 19 tackles for a loss, 6 passes defensed and a forced fumble.

The Utes commence their season September 2 by hosting Weber State at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
