CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cleveland Browns are making some moves as they rebuild after an 0-16 season. In a series of trades, they’re getting quarterback Tyrod Taylor from Buffalo, three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Jarvis Landry from Miami and cornerback Damarious Randall from Green Bay. That’s according to a person with direct knowledge of the overhaul. Teams aren’t permitted to announce any trades until next week.
SEATTLE (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks have cut ties with one of the NFL’s premier cornerbacks. Richard Sherman tells The Associated Press in a text that the team is releasing him after seven seasons. Sherman will be 30 years old going into next season and coming off an Achilles tendon injury that cost him half of the 2017 season. He was due $13 million for the 2018 season and his release gives Seattle a salary cap savings of about $11 million.
UNDATED (AP) — The Toronto Raptors have put an end to the Houston Rockets’ 17-game winning streak and regained a 2 ½-game lead over the Boston Celtics for first place in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The Raptors won their seventh in a row last night, 108-105 against the Rockets. It was Houston’s first loss since Jan. 27 at New Orleans. The Rockets still own the NBA’s best record following the Warriors’ 125-108 loss at Portland.
OFTERSCHWANG, Germany (AP) — Mikaela Shiffrin has won her fifth World Cup slalom title in the last six seasons, a day after securing her second straight overall title. The American wrapped up the slalom title after winning the penultimate women’s World Cup slalom today in Germany. Shiffrin has won 11 races this season and has become the first skier with 42 World Cup wins in total before turning 23.
AVONDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Martin Truex Jr. has the pole for tomorrow’s NASCAR Cup Series race at ISM Raceway near Phoenix. The defending series champion turned a lap at 136.945 mph yesterday for his 16th career pole, finishing about 0.3 mph faster than Kyle Larson. Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman will start from the second row, just ahead of Joey Logan and Denny Hamlin.
