CEDAR CITY, Utah-Per news released Tuesday, former Southern Utah men’s head basketball coach Todd Simon has accepted the head coaching position at Bowling Green University of the Mid-American Conference.
Simon comes to the Falcons’ program after seven seasons at the helm of the Thunderbirds’ program. While at SUU, Simon recorded a record of 118-106 (.527).
He leaves as the winningest head coach in at least the Thunderbirds’ Division I history which dates back to the 1988-89 season.
Simon’s assistant, Flynn Clayman, will serve as the interim head coach of the SUU program and coach the Thunderbirds Saturday at Daytona Beach, Fla. in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational against the North Alabama Lions.
Sources indicate Clayman is the likely replacement for Simon as the Thunderbirds’ new head coach.
