Southern Utah beats Kent State in The Basketball Classic

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Dre Marin had 27 points as Southern Utah edged past Kent State 83-79 in the first round of The Basketball Classic.

Malique Jacobs led the Golden Flashes on Wednesday night with a career-high 28 points.

The Basketball Classic follows the former NIT format, reseeding every team after each round. Southern Utah will be forced to play the waiting game, as the TBC Committee determines who their next opponent will be. The Thunderbirds should know their opponent by the end of the weekend, and the game will be scheduled for sometime next week.
