MANTI, Utah-Austin Cox had two receptions for 32 yards and a 31-yard touchdown reception and added a crucial safety as the Manti Templars outlasted Richfield 12-9 Friday in non-region football to have a successful Homecoming.
The Templars were held to 127 yards of offense, but the Manti defense limited the Wildcats to only one touchdown ( a Gavin Brown 1-yard touchdown run) and a 28-yard field goal from Kordell Morgan.
Both teams mustered under 3 yards per play in a defensive slugfest that saw Manti improve to 4-0 and keep pace with Region 14 powers Juab and North Sanpete ahead of region play.
Additionally, the 50-year anniversary of the first Manti High School football team was honored, in 1969, as well as the 20-year anniversary of the first Templars’ state championship team in 1999 during halftime festivities.
CASTLE DALE, Utah-Cade Bowring returned a kickoff 95 yards for a score and hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Zac Cowan as the Juab Wasps clobbered Emery 50-7 in non-region football action Friday. Cowan added a 30-yard touchdown run and Louk Stevens returned an interception 35 yards for another score for the Wasps. Slade Blackburn also had touchdown runs of 10 and 50 yards for Juab, while Bodee Blackett and Brock England also ran for scores for the Wasps in the rout.
MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Connor Jorgensen ran for three touchdowns and the North Sanpete Hawks routed Grand 42-10 Friday in non-region football action. Landon Bowles and Mason Bailey both threw scoring passes in the rout for the Hawks as well, with Jorgensen catching the touchdown pass from Bowles.
FILLMORE, Utah-Brooks Myers threw three touchdown passes and the Millard Eagles pounded Monticello 56-0 in non-region football action Friday. Austin Burraston added scoring runs of 15, 69 and 74 yards in the victory for the Eagles. Tyce Davies also added a 1-yard touchdown run in victory for Millard.
DELTA, Utah-Austin Topham, Grady Lovell and Jake Jackson all ran for touchdowns as the Delta Rabbits topped South Sevier 28-14 Friday on non-region football. Tracen Winkel connected with Brody Carter for a touchdown pass in the loss for the Rams.
2-A North
GUNNISON, Utah-Zach Stewart had a 96-yard touchdown run and Carson Tucker and Jon Willden each had 1-yard scoring runs as the Gunnison Valley Bulldogs waxed Rich 22-12 Friday in 2-A North football action. Riley Carrillo had a touchdown pass and ran for another score in defeat for the Rebels.
2-A South
BEAVER, Utah-Ryker Albrecht threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to EJ Allred and ran for three more scores as the Beaver Beavers decimated Milford 41-0 Friday in 2-A South football action. Kaleb Barney added a 53-yard touchdown run and Turner Williams a 40-yard scoring jaunt in the rout for the Beavers.
ENTERPRISE, Utah-Braxton Messersmith had a 6-yard touchdown run and Jed Beckstrand returned an interception 27 yards for a score for the Enterprise Wolves as they downed North Sevier 14-10 in 2-A South football action Friday. Keaton Peterson booted a 27-yard field goal and Gabe Wilcox had a 1-yard touchdown run in the loss for North Sevier in the battle of the Wolves.
PAROWAN, Utah-Sam Orton threw two touchdown passes and Trey Chatterley added an 8-yard touchdown run as the Kanab Cowboys gashed Parowan 34-20 Friday in 2-A South football action. Kyle Blomquist added a 27-yard touchdown run in addition to hauling in one of Orton’s touchdown passes for the Cowboys.

Region 12
MONROE, Utah-After splitting two close sets, the Grand Red Devils controlled the final two sets, getting the win over South Sevier 3-1 in Region 12 volleyball action Friday. Grand won 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17.
RICHFIELD, Utah-San Juan won a five-set thriller, upsetting Richfield 3-2 in Region 12 volleyball action Friday. The Broncos won 23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 18-25, 15-12.
Region 20
JUNCTION, Utah-The Panguitch Bobcats routed the Piute Thunderbirds 3-0 Friday in Region 20 volleyball action. The Bobcats prevailed 25-14, 25-23 and 25-18 in the win.
Baseball
1A South Region
JUNCTION, Utah-Hunter Batty hit two doubles and pitched four innings of shutout ball to lead Wayne over Piute 6-4 in 1A South Region baseball action Friday. Braige Jacobsen and Brody Durfey also doubled in the win.
PANGUITCH, Utah-The Panguitch Bobcats held off Diamond Ranch with an 8-7 win in 1A South Region baseball action Friday.
ORDERVILLE, Utah-The Valley Buffaloes won a close 1A South Region game over Bryce Valley 9-6 Friday.
