RICHFIELD, Utah-Kapri Orton netted 25 points, making 14 of 16 free throws and the Panguitch Bobcats outlasted Milford 61-56, capturing the 1-A state title Saturday evening at the Sevier Valley Center. The 4th Quarter was a masterful exhibition of marksmanship from both Orton and Milford’s Elena Yee, who amassed a game-high 28 points in defeat, making 14 of 15 foul shots. Jordan Bennett made a key 3-pointer in the closing moments to give Panguitch the surge they needed for victory as well after Milford had tied it 54-54 with 3:25 left.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Mickell Morgan posted 22 points on 7-13 shooting as the Piute Thunderbirds waxed Wayne 51-42, claiming fifth at the 1-A state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Hannah Morrill posted 14 points and 12 rebounds in the loss for the Badgers.

RICHFIELD, Utah-McKenna Roundy and Saige Cox had 14 points apiece as the Valley Buffaloes downed Bryce Valley 42-38 Saturday at Richfield High School to claim sixth place. Brooklyn Syrett and Keilani Deccio stepped up with 8 points apiece in the loss for the Mustangs.

*Boys Basketball*

RICHFIELD, Utah-Acey Orton posted 16 points on 7-10 shooting and the Panguith Bobcats waxed Bryce Valley 53-43 in the 1-A boys state title game Saturday night at the Sevier Valley Center. Austyn Brinkerhoff had a game-high 17 points in the loss for the Mustangs, but he could not stop the Bobcats from successfully defending their 2017 1-A state title.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Orrin Wood posted 23 points and 8 rebounds as the Valley Buffaloes finished in fifth place by besting Monticello 47-39 at the Sevier Valley Center Saturday. Jake Freestone posted 17 points and 7 rebounds on 7-14 shooting in the loss for the Buckaroos.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Garrett Potter posted 24 points on 9-14 shooting and the Manila Mustangs waxed Piute 67-37 to claim third at the 1-A state tournament Saturday at the Sevier Valley Center. Burke Pallesen added 23 points and 8 rebounds on 10-19 shooting for the Mustangs. Beau Sylvester’s 13 points led the Thunderbirds in defeat.
