*Boys Basketball*

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Brady Arbon posted 16 points and 13 rebounds and the Grantsville Cowboys edged Grand 66-63 in overtime to commence the 3-A boys state quarterfinals Thursdy at Burns Arena on the campus of Dixie State University. Brayden Schultz had 16 points and 7 rebounds in the loss for the Red Devils. Grantsville has advanced to the 9:30 pm semifinals Friday evening.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Matt Nelson’s 21 points led the way and the Manti Templars took complete control with a 28-20 advantage in the 4th Quarter to upset Morgan 63-56 in the 3-A state quarterfinals Thursday at Burns Arena. Cade Russell had a game-high 23 points in the loss for the Trojans. Manti next faces Grantsville Friday evening at 9:30 pm in the semifinals.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Derek Smith posted 14 points and overcame an injury to lead the Delta Rabbits to a 48-42 win over South Summit Thursday at Burns Arena in the 3-A state quarterfinals. Jager Springer added 13 more points, including a litany of clutch shots, for the Rabbits, who next play in the semifinals Friday at 7:30 pm. Justin Worthen had 15 points on 6-12 in the loss for the Wildcats.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Brodee Tebbs dramatically beat the buzzer to propel South Sevier to a 44-42 win over Juab in the 3-A state quarterfinals Thursday at Burns Arena. Caleb Barton had 13 points for the Rams as well. Max Gurney had 17 points in the loss for the Wasps. The Rams next face Delta Friday at 7:30 pm in the 3-A state semifinals.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Porter Hollingshead’s 12 points and 7 steals lead Beaver to a 58-34 rout of Altamont Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center in the boys’ 2-A state quarterfinals. Riley Braman had 11 points and 8 boards in the loss for the Lonhorns. The Beavers next face Layton Christian Friday at 7:30 pm in the state semifinals.

*Girls Basketball*

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Megan Jensen posted 23 points and 6 rebounds on 10-14 shooting as the Emery Spartans bludgeoned Carbon 70-44 Thursday at Burns Arena in the 3-A state quarterfinals. Kelsey Sorenson posted 18 points and 6 rebounds in the loss for the Dinos. Emery has advanced to the 3-A state semifinals to play Friday evening at 5:50 pm.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Ashlee Edwards came up with a key steal and bucket in the closing seconds as Grantsville edged South Sevier 49-47 in the 3-A state quarterfinals at Burns Arena Thursday. Edwards’ 10 led the Cowgirls in the win, who will next face Emery Friday at 5:50 pm in the state semifinals. Kaylie Jenson had a game-high 14 points in the loss for the Rams, who face Carbon Friday at 9:30 am in the consolation bracket.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Southern Utah University women’s basketball recruit Hannah Robins amassed 23 points and 11 rebounds on 11-16 shooting as the Juab Wasps dismantled Judge 45-30 Thursday in the 3-A state quarterfinals at Burns Arena. Miyalla Tarver posted 13 points and 10 boards in the loss for the Bulldogs. Juab advances to the 3-A state semifinals Friday to play at 4:10 pm.

ST. GEORGE, Utah-Emma Jones posted 12 points and 9 rebounds and the Richfield Wildcats overpowered Morgan 38-26 in the 3-A state quarterfinals at Burns Arena Thursday. Marcie Jo Stapley had 8 points in the loss for the Trojans. Richfield next faces Juab Friday at 4:10 pm in the state semifinals.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Linley White’s 13 points led the way as the Beaver Beavers pounded Altamont 54-26 in the 2-A state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center Thursday. Emery Maxfield had 8 points in the loss for the Longhorns. Beaver next draws Enterprise Friday in the state semifinals at 4:10 pm.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Sidney McDonald stepped up with 19 points as Kanab overpowered Wasatch Academy 67-58 Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center in the 2-A state quarterfinals. Nataly Dunka had 16 points for the Tigers in the loss. Kanab next faces Millard in the state semifnals Friday at 5:50 pm.

RICHFIELD, Utah-Kynlee Penney posted 23 points and the Millard Eagles smacked Layton Christian 51-36 in the 2-A state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center Thursday. Danyale Thomas and Jada Wyms had 14 points apiece in the loss for the Layton Christian Eagles.
