NEPHI, Utah-Brady Peery posted 30 points and 6 rebounds on 9-15 from the field and the No. 9 American Heritage Patriots outlasted No. 8 Juab 87-83 in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs Saturday at The Pit. American Heritage shot 51 percent (29-57) from the field for the game in victory. Austin Park’s 26 points led the Wasps in the loss. The Patriots next face No. 1 South Summit Thursday at 11:10 am in the state quarterfinals at the Sevier Valley Center.
KAMAS, Utah-Bracken Lassche led the way with 23 points and the No. 1 South Summit Wildcats smacked No. 17 Delta 73-57 Saturday in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs. Cai Henderson’s 22 points led the Rabbits in the loss.
RICHFIELD, Utah-Miles Barnett posted 16 points and the No. 5 Richfield Wildcats dismantled No. 12 Carbon 65-44 in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs Saturday. Carter Warburton led the Dinos in defeat with 14 points. Richfield next faces No. 4 Manti in the state quarterfinals Thursday at 9:30 am at the Sevier Valley Center.
MANTI, Utah-Reggie Frischknecht led the way with 20 points and the No. 4 Manti Templars routed No. 13 North Sanpete 77-62 Saturday in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs. Ridge Hendry’s game-high 22 points led the Hawks in the loss.
OGDEN, Utah-Nyiol Hauet posted 22 points and the No. 3 Ogden Tigers bested No. 14 Grantsville 57-47 in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs Saturday. Decker Dzierson led the Cowboys in the loss with 14 points. Ogden next faces No. 11 Union Thursday at 2:30 pm at the Sevier Valley Center in the state quarterfinals.
CEDAR CITY, Utah-Brady Bell netted 17 points and the No. 11 Union Cougars edged No. 6 Canyon View 60-58 Saturday in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs. Jace Farrow’s game-high 27 points led the Falcons in defeat.
CASTLE DALE, Utah-Creek Sharp recorded 20 points and the No. 2 Emery Spartans dismantled No. 15 Summit Academy 61-35 in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs Saturday. Colbyn Draper led the Bears in the loss with 12 points. The Spartans next face No. 10 Judge in the state quarterfinals Thursday at 12:50 pm at the Sevier Valley Center.
MORGAN, Utah-JJ Apathjang posted 21 points and the No. 10 Judge Memorial Bulldogs upset No. 7 Morgan 59-49 Saturday in the second round of the 3A boys state playoffs. Derrick Tilby had 16 points in the loss for the Trojans.
2A Second Round
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah-Komy Ocwor led the way with 36 points and the No. 2 APA West Valley Eagles soared past No. 15 Parowan 86-64 in the second round of the 2A state playoffs Saturday. The Eagles next face No. 7 Duchesne Thursday at 12:50 pm in the state quarterfinals at The America First Event Center on the campus of Southern Utah University.
DUCHESNE, Utah-Dallin Porter netted 23 points and No. 7 Duchesne prevailed over No. 10 ALA 64-57 in the battle of the Eagles Saturday in the second round of the 2A state playoffs. Zachariah Swarnes and Kannon Huntsman had 18 points apiece in the loss for the ALA Eagles.
COALVILLE, Utah-Trevor Richins posted 19 points and six steals and the No. 5 North Summit Braves waxed No. 12 San Juan 60-49 Saturday in the second round of the 2A state playoffs. RJ Dalley led the Broncos in the loss with 12 points. The Braves next face No. 4 South Sevier Thursday at 9:30 am in the state quarterfinals at Southern Utah University.
MONROE, Utah-Mackson Bastian’s 16 points led the way and the No. 4 South Sevier Rams got past No. 20 North Sevier 47-42 in the second round of the 2A state playoffs Saturday. Jacob Johnson’s 11 points led the Wolves in defeat.
KANAB, Utah-Cash Mortensen stepped up with 18 points and the No. 1 Kanab Cowboys lassoed No. 16 Waterford 74-41 Saturday in the second round of the 2A state playoffs. Carter Nielson’s game-high 20 points led the Ravens in defeat. Kanab next draws No. 8 Grand Thursday at 11:10 am in the state quarterfinals at Southern Utah University.
MOAB, Utah-Jason McKinney posted 16 points and the No. 8 Grand Red Devils bested No. 9 Rowland Hall 56-49 in the second round of the 2A state playoffs Saturday. Yeshi Tsering had 19 points in the loss for the Winged Lions.
ENTERPRISE, Utah-Parker Holt led the way with 13 points and the No. 3 Enterprise Wolves clobbered No. 19 Merit 77-36 Saturday in the second round of the 2A state playoffs. Miles Petersen’s game-high 18 points led the Knights in defeat. Enterprise next draws No. 6 Rockwell Thursday at 2:30 pm at Southern Utah University in the state quarterfinals.
EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah-Luke Henderson stepped up with 25 points and the No. 6 Rockwell Marshals outlasted No. 11 Beaver 61-56 in the second round of the 2A state playoffs Saturday. Deegan Blackner led the Beavers in the loss with 24 points.
Region 20 Tournament @ Panguitch High School
Championship Game
PANGUITCH, Utah-Jaxon Westwood led the way with 18 points and the No. 2 Piute Thunderbirds upset No. 1 Panguitch 54-50 to win the Region 20 tournament championship Saturday evening at Panguitch High School. Daxtyn Miller led the Bobcats with 17 points in the loss.
3rd-4th Place Game
PANGUITCH, Utah-Ryker Peterson stepped up with 21 points and the No. 3 Wayne Badgers humbled No. 5 Milford 75-63 Saturday to place third at the Region 20 Tournament at Panguitch High School. Taylor Dotson and Sadler Barnes had 16 points apiece in defeat for the Tigers.
