1A Playoffs First Round

MONTEZUMA CREEK, Utah-Hyatt Thomas led the way with 24 points and the No. 13 Whitehorse Raiders smacked No. 20 Mount Vernon 76-56 Tuesday in the first round of the 1A state playoffs. Joachim Bikoula led the Patriots in the loss with a game-high 37 points. The Raiders next visit No. 4 Manila Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

MONTICELLO, Utah-Cache Young posted 16 points and the No. 10 Monticello Buckaroos pounded No. 23 Dugway 66-19 in the first round of the 1A state playoffs Tuesday. Gary Williams posted 12 points in the loss for the Mustangs. Monticello next visits No. 7 Green River Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

HILDALE, Utah-Boston Sullivan stepped up with 17 points, 7 steals and 5 assists and the No. 18 Milford Tigers bested No. 15 Water Canyon 60-55 in the first round of the state playoffs Tuesday. Dynote Blackmore led the Wildcats in defeat with 26 points. Milford next visits No. 2 Wayne in the second round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.

EUREKA, Utah-Haygen Jameson and Luke Hansen had 11 points apiece and the No. 11 Tintic Miners clobbered No. 22 Monument Valley 72-26 Tuesday in the first round of the state playoffs. Caleb Cly led the Cougars with 16 points in the loss. Tintic next visits No. 6 Bryce Valley Thursday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

ESCALANTE, Utah-Chase Fridberg-Gerlich netted 12 points and the No. 17 St. Joseph Jayhawks upset No. 16 Escalante 50-42 in the first round of the state playoffs Tuesday. Jaxen Cottam’s game-high 22 points led the Moquis in the loss. St. Joseph next visits No. 1 Rich in the second round of the state playoffs Thursday at 7:00 pm.
