2A State Playoffs First Round

FILLMORE, Utah-Derk Memmott netted 17 points and 10 rebounds on 7/14 from the floor and exceeded the 1,000-point threshold for his Millard High School career as the No. 12 Eagles got past No. 21 Maeser Prep 75-69 Tuesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. Graham Harmor led the Lions in the loss with 23 points on 7/13 from behind the arc. Millard returns to action Friday at 7:00 pm at No. 5 Rowland Hall in the second round of the 2A boys basketball state playoffs. The winner of that will advance to the 2A state tournament at Utah Valley University.

ENTERPRISE, Utah-Eric Phelps posted 13 points and the Enterprise Wolves smoked Rockwell 61-47 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Tuesday. Jacob Christiansen led the Marshals in defeat with 22 points. Enterprise next visits No. 4 South Sevier in the second round of the 2A boys state basketball playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm.

BLANDING, Utah-Tripp Palmer led the way with 19 points and the No. 9 San Juan Broncos steamrolled Vanguard 83-40 Tuesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. James O’Brien led the Valiants in defeat with 11 points. San Juan next visits No. 8 APA West Valley Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the 2A state boys basketball playoffs.

BEAVER, Utah-Schevion Ormsby posted 21 points and 10 rebounds and the No. 14 Beaver Beavers downed No. 19 Merit 53-38 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Tuesday. Carter Taeoalii and Smith Sorensen netted 15 points apiece in the loss for the Knights. Beaver next visits No. 3 ALA Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

SANDY, Utah-Camden Judd led the way with 22 points and the No. 16 Waterford Ravens bested No. 17 Utah Military Camp Williams 62-56 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Tuesday. Helaman Jimenez led the Marauders in the loss with 16 points. The Ravens next visit No. 1 Kanab in the second round of the state playoffs Friday at 7:00 pm.

DUCHESNE, Utah-Tucker Lefler posted 19 points and the No. 15 Duchesne Eagles got past No. 18 North Sevier 45-42 Tuesday in the first round of the 2A state playoffs. Houston Mickelsen led the Wolves in defeat with 13 points. Duchesne next visits No. 2 North Summit Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

PAROWAN, Utah-Tate Stubbs led the way with 15 points and the No. 10 Parowan Rams waxed No. 23 Grand 58-44 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Tuesday. Jake Mason and Colan Byrd led the Red Devils with 14 points apiece in the loss. Parowan next visits No. 7 Gunnison Valley Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

No. 11 Draper APA 67 No. 22 Intermountain Christian 50. The Eagles next visit No. 6 South Summit Friday at 7:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

Girls Basketball

Region 20 Tournament

PANGUITCH, Utah-Makena Owens and Tayt Miller scored 18 points apiece and the Panguitch Bobcats routed Water Canyon 68-39 Tuesday in the Region 20 Tournament. Tammra Johnson led the Wildcats in the loss with 18 points.

ESCALANTE, Utah-Maddie Cox netted 16 points and the Valley Buffalos got past Escalante 49-45 Tuesday in the first round of the Region 20 Tournament. Cora Gardner and Rylee Frei scored 13 points apiece in defeat for the Moquis.

BICKNELL, Utah-AJ VanDyke stepped up with 20 points and the Wayne Badgers clobbered Bryce Valley 67-22 in the first round of the Region 20 Tournament Tuesday. Annabella Vasquez led the Mustangs with 11 points in the loss.

JUNCTION, Utah-Kenadi King led the way with 27 points and the Piute Thunderbirds edged Milford 57-54 Tuesday in the first round of the Region 20 Tournament. Jaidyn McMullin’s game-high 32 points led the Tigers in defeat.
