3A First Round Playoffs

RICHFIELD, Utah-Trey Yardley (21 car, 170 yards, 3 TD’s) and Ngalu Taufatofua (17 car, 178 yards, TD) each posted solid performances and the No. 7 Richfield Wildcats overpowered No. 10 Logan 41-21 Friday in the first round of the 3A  state playoffs at Richfield High School. Cord White also threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to Colton White in victory for Richfield and Cord White added a touchdown run as well in the win for the Wildcats, who posted 418 yards of offense. Easton Favero (30-60, 299 yards, 2 TD’s) and Kolt Redd (10, rec, 113 yards, TD) led the Grizzlies in defeat. Additionally, Kayden Nhean (6 touches, 69 net yards, rush TD, rec TD) excelled in the loss for Logan. Richfield next visits No. 2 Morgan Friday at 4:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Anderson Curry and Ryker Rice ran for scores and the No. 9 Ogden Tigers upset No. 8 Canyon View 14-12 Friday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. Ryder Miller ran 26 yards for a score and Jaxon Beckstrom made a 27-yard field goal in the loss for the Falcons. Ogden next visits No. 1 Cedar Friday at 4:00 pm in the state quarterfinals.

NEPHI, Utah-Brock Richards ran for a pair of scores and Jaden Heap added a touchdown run and an interception return for a score as the No. 4 Juab Wasps pounded No. 13 Ben Lomond 65-14 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Friday. Tristan Jessop threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Gavin Rivera in defeat for the Scots. Juab next hosts No. 5 Grantsville Friday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

GRANTSVILLE, Utah-Dallan Van Vliet threw three touchdown passes and the No. 5 Grantsville Cowboys clobbered No. 12 Carbon 54-17 Friday in the first round of the 3A state playoffs. Kayden Dunn threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Riker O’Hearon in the loss for the Dinos.

MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Maddox Madsen ran for three scores and the No. 6 North Sanpete Hawks clipped No. 11 Union 30-14 in the first round of the 3A state playoffs Friday. Gannon Labrum and Cruz Labrum ran for scores in defeat for the Cougars. North Sanpete next visits No. 3 Manti Friday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

2A First Round Playoffs

HERRIMAN, Utah-Michael Gibbons ran 28 yards for a score and Tahj Cole added a 21-yard field goal and the No. 9 Judge Memorial Bulldogs upset No. 8 Providence Hall 11-6 in the first round of the 2A state playoffs Friday. Wyatt Martin ran two yards for a score in the loss for the Patriots. Judge next visits No. 1 San Juan Friday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.

1A First Round Playoffs

GUNNISON, Utah-Ryder Coates ran for two scores and Bronson Allen and Talan Dyreng each also ran for another score as the No. 8 Gunnison Valley Bulldogs overpowered No. 9 North Sevier 28-12 Friday in the first round of the 1A state playoffs. Houston Mickelsen threw two touchdown passes in defeat for the Wolves. Gunnison Valley next visits No. 1 Kanab Friday at 4:00 pm in the second round of the state playoffs.
