ESCALANTE, Utah-Alison Holcomb posted 8 kills and the No. 16 Escalante Moquis swept No. 17 Pinnacle 3-0 in the first round of the 1A girls state volleyball tournament Wednesday. The Moquis overpowered the Panthers 25-9, 25-15, 25-14 to prevail in straight sets. The Moquis next face No. 1 Panguitch Friday at 9:00 am in the second round of the state tournament at the UCCU Center on the campus of Utah Valley University.
