ST. GEORGE, Utah-McKray Gayler came through with a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 7th Inning as the Piute Thunderbirds outlasted Panguitch 4-3 to win the 1-A state baseball title Monday evening at Snow Canyon High School.

Gayler’s heroics gave the Thunderbirds their 9th all-time state baseball title and their fourth in a row.

The T-Birds have now won state titles in 1983, 1990, 1991, 1997, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
