Juab and North Sanpete Football Make Appearance On Prestigious Top 10 List

NEPHI/MT. PLEASANT, Utah-Juab football and North Sanpete football, each on the heels of impressive wins Friday, have advanced up the rankings on the prestigious Utah Prep Rag Top 10 list circa August 25.

The 2-0 Wasps, are coming off a 30-19 win over Class 4-A Cedar City on the road, rising to No. 7 overall in these standings.

Last week, Juab was at No. 8

The 2-0 Hawks are coming off of a 38-6 rout of Emery. This places North Sanpete at No. 9 overall in the standings.

Last week, they were at No. 10.

The Wasps will host Class 5-A Salem Hills Friday at 7:00 pm with the Hawks visiting South Sevier Friday for a 7:00 pm game. The North Sanpete game against the Rams will be broadcast on KMTI AM-650, FM, 95.1 and 106.7 or online at midutahradio.com by clicking on the “KMTI” link.

The Wasps are currently led by versatile SLOT back Jared Dye. The junior has amassed 137 scrimmage yards on 13 touches, including 3 receptions for 64 yards in wins over Parowan and aforementioned Cedar City to start the season.

Sophomore signal-caller Alex Jackson has completed 57.7 percent of his passes (15-26) for 177 yards thus far on the season. Senior tailback Grant Orme has a pair of scoring runs thus far on the season to lead Juab in that category.

Defensively, senior linebacker Hudson Perry has 2 sacks to pace the Wasps and sophomore linebacker Boden Ballow has 9 tackles to lead Juab in that category.

The Hawks are paced by junior signal-caller Landon Bowles who has completed 79.1 percent of his passes (34-43, 457 yards) for 10 touchdowns and an interception in North Sanpete’s wins over Grantsville and Emery to commence the season.

Senior tailbacks Trevin Morley and Laramie Roberts have each run for a score this season for the Hawks.

Senior receivers Magnus Clawson (11 rec, 172 yards [15.64 yards per reception], 4 TD’s) and Brady Jacobson (5 rec, 152 yards, 3 TD’s) have each been highly productive targets for Bowles.
