Cougars offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick announced this decision during a Camp Kalani wrapup session with the media on Zoom.
This is Hall’s fourth season with the BYU football program and he has appeared in nine games thus far.
In his collegiate career, the Maple Mountain High School product has completed 67.4 percent of his passes for 420 yards and a touchdown for the Cougars.
At 6-1 and 205 pounds, Hall is a dual-threat quarterback with a big arm.
Hall is the sixth different opening-day quarterback for the Cougars since BYU went independent in 2011.
The Cougars commence their season September 4 at Allegiant Stadium of Las Vegas against the Arizona Wildcats.
