SALT LAKE CITY-Monday, University of Utah junior quarterback Bryson Barnes was awarded a scholarship by Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham.
Barnes, a former Milford High School star, completed 12 of 18 passes for 159 yards and a score for the No. 14 Utes in a 24-11 win over Florida August 31 at Rice-Eccles Stadium.
In his career at Utah, Barnes has completed 66 percent of his passes for 612 yards, 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Barnes may get the start for the Utes Saturday morning at Baylor if star Utes quarterback, senior Cam Rising, has not recovered from an ACL tear sustained in last January’s Rose Bowl.
