ROOSEVELT, Utah-Wednesday, the first day of the 3-A boys’ golf state tournament occurred at Roosevelt Golf Course, with Union High School serving as the host.
Through the first day of competition, the Morgan Trojans are in first place with an aggregate score of 317. Judge Memorial is second with 328, Richfield is third with 344 making the Wildcats the Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network school with the best chance of winning a state title after Day 1 of competition. Carbon is fourth with 346, Delta is in fifth place with a score of 347. Grand County is sixth with a score of 353, Manti is seventh with a score of 357, Union is eighth with 359 and Grantsville is ninth with 366.
Those finishing below the cut line, and therefore eliminated from Day 2 of competition, are South Sevier with a score of 373, Juab with a score of 374, Emery with a score of 392, American Leadership with a score of 404 and South Summit with a score of 409.
Sophomore Tanner Telford of Morgan is in first place overall with a score of 70 after the first day of competition.
Senior Jaren Anderson is Richfield’s leading golfer with a score of 80. He is followed by junior Mason Hovinga with a score of 93. Freshman Keaton Anderson has a score of 86 for the Wildcats. Rounding out Richfield’s competitors are freshman Jaygen Mullen with a score of 92, freshman Gage Brower with a score of 86 and senior TJ Gadd has a score 0f 94 for the Wildcats.
Delta is led by junior Jake Henrie, with a score of 79. Other Rabbits who competed Wednesday include junior Walker Carroll ( a score of 98), sophomore Wayland Crane (a score of 86), junior Rhett Callister (a score of 88), senior Griff Hare (a score of 94) and senior Landon Dutson (a score of 112).
Manti is led by senior Tyler Wallace (a score of 84). Wednesday, the Templars were also represented by senior Keston Lyon (a score of 82), sophomore Ryan Hardy (a score of 97), freshman Quintin Evans (a score of 94), freshman Talon Rasmussen (a score of 110) and sophomore Jaxen Wallace (a score of 121).
In their only day of competition, South Sevier posted a score of 373. The Rams were led by senior Brennan Hunt (a score of 91). South Sevier was also represented by junior Carson Thornock (a score of 96), freshman Braxton Stubbs (a score of 103), sophomore Tyson Memmott (a score of 97), sophomore Brogan Barney (a score of 89) and freshman Mason Eyre (a score of 104).
Juab was led by senior Brock Cragun with a score of 97. Other Wasps who competed included senior Hayz Lunt (a score of 90), sophomore Jalal Khan (a score of 88), sophomore Trae Lund (a score of 100), sophomore McKane Tolley (a score of 99) and senior Austin Robinson (a score of 100).
