SALT LAKE CITY-Friday, Utah head football coach Morgan Scalley confirmed the Utes linebackers coach Colton Swan’s promotion to defensive coordinator.

Swan will also remain linebackers coach in this new role.

Swan has been on the Utes’ staff since 2019 and has mentored many star players, including Jacksonville Jaguars standout Devin Lloyd who went No. 27 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Swan also spent 15 seasons at Weber State coaching the linebackers for the Wildcats before coming to Utah.

The native of Jerome, Idaho is a 2004 Weber State graduate.
