BYU Football Honored By Big 12 Monday

IRVING, Texas-Monday, following No. 12 BYU’s 44-13 win over TCU last Saturday, the Cougars received three honors from the Big 12.

Senior kicker Will Ferrin was named the conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week, freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier was named the Big 12’s Offensive Player of the Week and the BYU defensive line received the Defensive Line of the Week honors from the conference.

Ferrin scored 14 points for the Cougars in the rout of the Horned Frogs, making field goals of 52, 35 and 29 yards in the win.

Bachmeier was 23/33 for 296 yards and a score for BYU in the convincing victory and the Cougars’ defensive line limited the Horned Frogs to 13 points, 298 yards of offense and recorded three sacks, five tackles for a loss and two quarterback hurries.

BYU returns to action Saturday at Cincinnati as the Big 12 season ensues for both squads.
