A pair of Weber State Football Standouts Named To Big Sky All-Preseason Team Sunday

SPOKANE, Wash.-Sunday, during the Big Sky Conference’s annual football media day, a pair of Weber State standouts were named to the all-conference preseason team.

The honored Wildcats are senior offensive lineman Gavin Ortega and senior fullback Colter May.

Ortega, a native of Bellingham, Wash., was also named as a preseason All-American by FCS STATS this past week and has played in 29 career games for Weber State.

May, a native of Heyburn, Idaho, caught one pass for two yards last season and has played in 31 career games during his Weber State career.

Ortega, May and their Wildcats teammates open fall camp July 30 and will visit James Madison August 30 in the season opener.

The Big Sky preseason offensive MVP for the upcoming season is Montana State sophomore tailback Josh Adams who ran for 833 yards and 10 scores while averaging 6.6 yards per carry last season during a successful freshman campaign for the Bobcats.

The conference’s preseason defensive MVP for the upcoming season is UC Davis senior defensive back Rex Connors, a former Pleasant Grove High School star. Last season for the Aggies, Connors posted two interceptions, 3.5 tackles for a loss and six pass breakups.
