The Widemouth 2 Fire behavior has been upgraded to catastrophic after jumping containment lines. According to a press release from the U.S. Forest Service, “with the quick fire growth, it would be too dangerous to put firefighters in front of this fire. No amount of resources will stop this forward progression given the current conditions and predicted weather. The Northern Utah T3 Team is focusing on protecting life and safety. Second, we’re working on getting resources around structures and infrastructure.” The Sheriff’s office asks that individuals in the area, especially east of I-15, stay close to their phones where evacuation level notifications will be sent. The press release also asked that individuals stay out of the area east of I-15 from Fillmore to Kanosh and to avoid driving on I-15 if possible. GO evacuation orders have been given for Kanosh South of 300 S., Turkey Track Lane and Cemetery Road and 4400 S to Reservation Road in Meadow. SET evacuation warnings have been given for Kanosh North of 300 S., Meadow and 500 S to Reservation Road in Fillmore. The fire is estimated at over 36,000 acres.
