Whistleblower Wants Fraud Probe Launched Into LDS Church

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A self-proclaimed whistleblower is calling for a tax fraud investigation against The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Religion Unplugged reports David Nielsen shared a document with the U.S. Senate claiming the LDS investment arm, Ensign Peak Advisors, “improperly has reaped billions in untaxed income.” Nielsen believes the firm has avoided more than 20-billion dollars in taxes. His document also claims to have evidence of tax law violations and “systematic accounting fraud.” Back in 2019, Nielsen made a complaint to the IRS declaring the Church built a massive investment portfolio using donations that were supposed to go to charity.
