Wayne County dog put down after an attack

A dog in Wayne County has been put down after it seriously bit a human.

The victim had been a guest at the dog owners home on many previous occasions, and was invited over the night of the attack.

The attack left the victim with deep bruising and four puncture wounds. The dog gave no warning of an attack before the bite.

In a Facebook post by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, they wanted to make it clear that “the bite was not a nip, it was an extremely serious bite.”

The incident happened on Oct. 2 and the dog was quarantined to the owners home. Later the parents of the dog owner agreed to “put the dog down.”

During the quarantine the dog was seen a number of times out in the owners yard.

After several attempts to contact the dog’s owners, a deputy was able to contact them and the decision as made to destroy the animal.

The Wayne County Attorney’s Office is going to be reviewing the report concerning the dog bite and will determine if any charges will be filed.
