(St. George, UT) — A Utah House representative wants to make the brine shrimp the state’s designated crustacean. Representative Rosemary T. Lesser told St. George News she is sponsoring the state crustacean designation, designated as HB 137. She said a meeting with Great Salt Lake biologist Jaimi Butler encouraged her to support the bill. She said she’s “fascinated by the lake’s ecology and brine shrimp.” The committee has yet to hear the bill.
