(Salt Lake City, UT) — Utah Governor Spencer Cox is unveiling his budget proposal for the next fiscal year. Cox announced the 30-point-six-billion-dollar budget earlier today at the William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home. One of the main provisions in the budget is the elimination of state taxes on Social Security benefits aimed at benefiting older Utahns. Cox also wants to improve school safety measures, for which the budget requests 130-million dollars. The proposal also aims to address energy demands by requesting over 20-million dollars for nuclear energy projects.
