(National Harbor, MD) — Two Utah teens are in Maryland today to begin competition in the 2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee. Luke Jeppesen and Surya Kapu are among the 231 competitors who will begin the preliminary round of competition today. The two entrants from Utah are both 14-years-old and are both in the eighth grade. The winner of this year’s bee will get 50-thousand dollars cash and a variety of other prizes.
