Trial date for California man vacated

A man who is facing a sexual abuse of a child charge had his jury trial canceled on Wednesday.  Robert Roe of Castro, California is facing the 1st degree felony in 6th District Court due to an incident in 2017 related to his association with the Knights of the Crystal Blade, a fundamentalist group that believed in polygamy and child marriage.  He is accused of being given a 5-year old girl as his bride in August 2017.  The child was interviewed about the incident in 2017, but due to court delays and the age of the child, she will be re-interviewed by the FBI.  Roe’s attorney and Sanpete County Attorney, Kevin Daniels, both asked to vacate the November 1 trial date as depending on the outcome of the new interview, more time will be needed to prepare for a trial.  A pretrial conference has been set for November 1 at 10:30 a.m.
