The Tank Hollow Fire burning in Spanish Fork Canyon remains at more than 5,000 acres with 40% containment.
Over the past week, fire behavior has been favorable for beneficial, low-intensity fire spread. Downed and dead trees and undergrowth have been consumed while healthy, live trees have been preserved.
Fire managers took advantage of favorable conditions to widen the vegetation gap by burning along several roads northeast of the fire area over the weekend. These lines will be used to confine the fire as it continues to advance northward.
Fire behavior is expected to increase significantly as near record high temperatures and very low humidity develops over the next few days.
