(Salt Lake City, UT) — A state lawmaker is trying to persuade Governor Cox to sign a bill banning transgender athletes from youth sports. State Senator Dan McKay met with the governor yesterday to lay out his position on House Bill 11. The bill originally proposed a commission that would set standards for transgender participation in school sports. McKay substituted his version of the bill in the last hours of the session, adding a total ban on transgender athletes. McKay said yesterday that the governor is likely to veto the bill.
