In an article posted to their website on July 16 the Sevier School District shared their back to school plan for the upcoming return to school.
It was stated that they want the return to school to feel as normal as possible and that “the better we all work together to mitigate risk in the schools and community, the more likely that it is that we will be able to continue with the regular schedule and all of the activities and functions that come with it.”
The article elaborates that the single most important mitigating factor is to ensure that if a student or staff member is ill or have symptoms of COVID-19 that they stay home and contact their health care provider for proper treatment. They will also be sending out “symptom screening documents” to families to help them better understand when to keep students home.
The second thing that the article talks in depth about is face coverings. It states that they are the second most important mitigating factor, but that they are waiting for additional information concerning Governor Gary Herbert’s executive order concerning the wearing of masks in schools. Concerning masks the article states “our desire is to be fully compliant with regulations and laws while at the same time remain responsive and sympathetic to the individual beliefs and rights of the students, staff, and families.”
The article stresses that the Sevier School District will strive to keep politics out of the classroom while offering considerations to individual beliefs of students and families. If you would like to read the full article it can be found on seviersd.org.
