(Salt Lake City, UT) — Senator Orrin Hatch says Utah is setting a standard for DNA testing that the rest of the country would do well to follow. The Republican senator toured the new Unified State Lab in Salt Lake City yesterday. The laboratory uses state of the art technology to process DNA results more quickly. Hatch toured the lab with crime victim advocate Elizabeth Smart. Both support passage of a Hatch-sponsored bill that would allow DNA profiles taken using new technology to be entered in the FBI’s DNA database.Â
