Senate Passes First-Time Homebuyer Bill

(Salt Lake City, UT) — A bill to help Utah’s first-time homebuyers is moving to the State House of Representatives after overwhelming approval by the Senate. Senators passed the measure on a 28-to-1 vote Wednesday afternoon. Senate President Stuart Adams’ bill would create a 50-million dollar program that would allow first-time homebuyers to get up to 20-thousand dollars to help cover down payment, closing costs, or paying down the interest rate. The Utah Housing Corporation would administer the program.
