Senate Committee Passes Bill To Create New Utah Flag

(Salt Lake City, UT) — The fight to create a new state flag has passed its first hurdle. The Senate Business and Labor Committee voted 6-1 yesterday to advance the design of the new flag to a full vote of the state Senate. The committee heard testimony from more than a dozen Utahns, with opponents saying state lawmakers were trying to cancel a part of Utah’s history by adopting a new flag. Senator Mike Lee endorsed the new flag design yesterday, saying it represents the people of Utah through its distinctive design.
