Sanpete Search and Rescue had another successful fundraiser as they took over the airwaves at KMTI Radio on April Fools Day as they have done for the past 44 years. At the end of the day, the sponsored ads, auctions and swag sales netted the Posse over $35,000. The money will be used to buy needed equipment, provide training for the volunteer member of the Search and Rescue, and help provide for operations and maintenance.
Over the last 51 years, there have been a total of 252 members of the Sanpete Search and Rescue with a combined total of 1,960 years of service. The 40 current volunteers are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and provided medical and rescue help to 49 people recreating in the Manti-LaSal National Forest during 2020.
