A Richfield man was arrested June 25 after police say he forcefully ripped the clothing of a woman who wanted to buy a washer and dryer from him, then sexually assaulted her.
According to reports on June 24 a woman who was inquiring about buying a washer and dryer met Russell S. Curtis at a storage shed facility in Richfield. Curtis took the woman to the shed where the washer and dryer were stored, then closed the door halfway.
According to a police affidavit the woman tried to leave to which Curtis replied “you’re not going anywhere” and proceeded to tell her that “if she wanted the washer and dryer then she was going to have to take her clothes off.”
According to reports, Curtis also stated that he wanted to take pictures of the woman before ripping her clothes. It was also stated that he told the woman that “she could say anything she wanted because nobody would believe anything she said,” before threatening to kill the woman and her son if she contacted police.
Curtis was arrested for investigation of object rape, forcible sexual abuse, theft and unlawful detention.
Curtis is also suspected of taking pictures of women in a rehabilitation center and offering money to women to expose themselves, according to court documents.
One individual claims that Curtis has multiple pictures of the women at a rehab center he used to work for in various stages of undress and told that he keeps those photos on an SD card.
Between February and March multiple victims came forward and reported that Curtis had offered them money or free rent at a storage unit for exposing themselves to him.
After obtaining a warrant police seized several cameras, a cellphone and an SD card. Nor formal criminal charges have been filed against Curtis at this time.
