(Salt Lake City, UT) — An accused rapist who fled Salt Lake City to Canada is in custody. Former University of Utah diver Benjamyn Smith allegedly raped a woman in her dorm room earlier this year and was suspended from the university. Investigators learned that the 19-year-old fled and returned to his home in British Columbia. Smyth has been charged with rape, forcible sodomy, and forcible sexual abuse. While details of his arrest are not yet available, Smyth is believed to be back in the US.
